Trip Back to the Midwest

This past weekend I went back to the Midwest (Hudson and Red Wing/Rochester) for one last trip before the baby is born. I went back to meet Kenny and attend Adrienne and Kenny's Wedding Shower, since I can't be there at the wedding.

I had a long night friday/saturday morning and got into MN around 9:30. My mom and grandma had a shower for me in Hudson at noon. It was a really nice shower, we got a lot of really nice gifts! I had my In-Laws there too-- it was nice to see everyone. Next time I see them all, I'll be a mommy!!! Funny to think about it like that!

On Sunday, I went down to Red Wing and met up with Kenny and Adrienne and we headed down to Rochester for their shower. I got to see Adrienne's dress which was fun, since I won't get to see her in it that day.. It looks really nice!

The shower was very nice- I got to see many people I haven't seen since the wedding! And, to my surprise, they did a shower for me too!!! I had no idea this was happening! We got even more stuff- all of it super nice and so many cute outfits I can't wait to put the baby in!!! (I hope he likes baseball.. there seems to be a theme in the clothing!).

31 Weeks- Time is Flying By

Wow, I've been really bad at updating this- sorry!!I feel like the past couple of weeks have been really busy!

Here's an update:

Adam and I started our Prepared Childbirth Classes last week- we have had two classes so far. We meet every Tuesday night for 5 weeks- so 3 more classes left! There are 4 other couples in the class with us. One couple has the same due date as us!
It is a very interesting class-- lots of information. Last class we went over the actual labor/delivery process. Makes me a little nervous knowing it is right around the corner for us (9 more weeks until Due Date). I know we're ready though-- just makes it a little bit more real, sitting there practicing breathing and what not. Adam is going to be a great coach. He really helps me control my breathing which is tricky for me with my asthsma.

I went to the Dr. Last week- I go every 2 weeks now. Baby is still measuring 2 weeks ahead. Everything else is just fine- heartbeat is normal. No gestational diabetes. Hooray!!

I'm starting to have braxton hicks contractions. Poor little guy is running out of room-- my ribs are pretty sore-he likes to give me a good kick every now and then!!

He is very active for not having much room! He gets the hiccups a lot too.. it's very cute.

I am traveling for the last time before the baby is born this weekend. It's the last weekend my Dr. would allow me to travel. It's going to be a quick trip, but I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone. I will post pictures when I get back on Monday.

29 Weeks

Here I am in my 29th Week. 11 weeks until the due date. I am officially starting to feel huge. It's been cute up until this point- it's really getting not so cute anymore! :)

Nursery

The baby's room is coming together quite nicely. We not have the crib up, the dresser/changing table, the room has been painted for a few weeks now and it's almost all into place.

Megan also recovered an antique rocking chair that's been in my family for four generations (I think) and both she and Wrigley wanted to say hi.

Retaining wall

I bought some landscaping bricks from my neighbor Ben to build a retaining wall in the backyard in hopes that it will also trap some run off water and green up the grass this summer, in addition to looking nice.

Most of the grub behind the bricks is dirt I dug up Thursday, but it's not like the grass wasn't already dead here from our extremely dry winter. You can see the lawn is almost bare anyway and the blizzard melted so fast it didn't really do us any favors, even if we got close to a foot of snow. It's been a harsh winter, in terms of no snow -- or snow that melts the next day.

I'm looking forward to it heating up soon so I can turn on the sprinklers and bring this stubborn shit back to life. Ugggggh. Stupid arid Wyoming soil.

Wrigley the Wampa

Wrigley looks like the Wampa, chillin' on Hoth... waiting for Luke Skywalker to come around.

Snowed in...

Somehow we white knuckled it up the summit and across 9,000 some feet Friday night from Laramie on our way back to Cheyenne after the Elton John concert in what was the start of a nasty April blizzard.

The closer we got to Cheyenne, the worse it got. Saturday, minus for a trip to the store, we spent snowed in at the house -- occasionally going outside to shovel off the front porch, which kept drifting over in snow and preventing us from getting the door open.

Here's what it looked like around 10:30 a.m. Sunday...












The left photo shows how deep the snow was and the photo to the right, which is tough to see because of the brightness of the snow, shows how high the snow drifted. When I walked trudged through the snow to clear off the air conditioner, the snow came up to my upper thighs. It had drifted to at least 3 feet high.














Finally, here are some photos showing the snow in our backyard and how deep it got -- and how high it drifted back there.























All the snow melted by Wednesday and did not leave enough of the moisture our grass needed.

Glucose

I'm currently fasting again for 12 hours because I found out today from my Dr. that I failed the 1 hour glucose test. So now tomorrow I will go in and take the 3 hour test. For those who don't know the process, the 1 hour test you go in, and drink this sugary drink and then sit for an hour and then get your blood drawn. Tomorrow, I'll go in, they will prick my finger, give me a higher concentration of the sugar drink, and then every hour for the next 3 hours they will draw blood. I need to find a good book to bring to read while I'm just sitting there!!

I'm not too worried about all of this. I failed by 3 points. And, if I do fail this test, it's not a big deal, I trust my Dr and I know they will get us all through this. :) Not to mention, almost everyone I've talked to failed their first time as well. :)

I had a baby shower on Sunday. It was very low key, with my Cheyenne Friends (mainly former coworkers from the law firm). It was nice to just have a girls afternoon. The picture is from the shower.

Other than the glucose testing, everything is going well. My back is really starting to bug me however. I'm trying not to say anything or complain about it, because I know it's only going to get worse before it gets better, but really, if the worst problem I have is a sore back, I think I can handle it!!!

The home stretch

Well, we have made it to the 3rd trimester!! I am now 28 weeks- 12 more weeks until the due date. We're pretty sure Baby Crowson will make his appearance before then however.

We had another Dr. Appointment on Thursday. We had our second ultrasound done. They scheduled this one, because at our last appointment, the baby was measuring 2 weeks big, so they wanted to just check it out and see how he was doing now. Well, no surprises-- he is still measuring 2 weeks ahead. He is 3lbs (according to babycenter.com e-mails I get- at 28 weeks the baby should be about 2 1/4 lbs) The baby's head is in the 97.5%-- thank you Adam! :) Pretty sure this baby is going to come out looking like his father. :) They have scheduled another ultrasound for May 12- so see his growth progress and to do more measurements - to see if a c-section is the way we are going to have to go. It kind of looks like that is what is going to happen, but we'll see what the dr. says in 6 more weeks!

We finally got a good look at his face! He gave a some good profile shots. He had his one hand resting on his face, and with his other hand he was sucking his thumb. It was really fun to see that. He's got cute ears too! :) haha. I have photos- but for whatever reason I can't get them to load, so Ill keep working on them and post them late

The baby's heartbeat was good and strong at 133.

He is kicking up a storm. He has turned down, which is good.. We won't have to worry about a Breech Baby. :)

Other than that, things are going well. Adam and I are going to put the crib up today. Last night Adam and I went to see Elton John over in Laramie. It was a great concert. The baby really liked the music. He was moving all over the place!

Tomorrow, my friends here are throwing a baby shower for us. Should be a good time. It will be nice to just hang out with the girls for an afternoon!
