27 weeks

I was home Thursday night, and Megan has been wanting more photos taken now that her belly button is about to pop, so we shot these.

These photos were shot at 27 weeks, the last week of the second trimester. I wanted to go for something more artsy, but since we don't have a studio, per se, I improvised.

Megan told me today that our babycenter.com daily e-mails say the baby is 14 1/2 inches long right now and he will get to be his maximum height (or length) over the course of the next three weeks before he starts to fill out weight wise. My guess is he's longer, probably about 15 or 16 inches.

In other news, the baby's room is coming together. Since we were snowed in on Thursday, I spent the morning putting together the dresser and changing table. Wrigley still isn't sure what to think as our former bedroom continues to see daily or weekly changes and she's confused as to why the room is empty.

We've let her walk in there, though, and sniff around. Megan had her in the rocking chair and also let her smell the baby's clothes. We're positive she has an idea that something is changing, although we don't think she knows what that change is.

We continue to prepare Wrigley by tugging at her ears and tail, and we try to stick a finger in her mouth so she knows what the baby might do. So far, she'll put her teeth on us, but she doesn't bite. She just licks. We praise her for being a good girl in hopes she'll do the same for the baby. Overall, we know the cohabitation of Wrigley and the baby will not be an issue. Wrigley is very laid back and loves kids (we'll see how much she loves them when the baby wakes up in the middle of the night and is crying). She is more of a quiet follower who loves to be around people.

26 Weeks

We're getting close to the end of the 2nd trimester!!! I went to the DR. this past Wednesday. Everything is going right as planned. The baby is still big (we'll find out exactly how big on April 2nd at our next ultrasound). The DR. told me to put the idea of a C-Section into the back of my mind, as it looks like we're going to be having probably an 8 or 9 lb baby and she thinks a C-Section will probably be my best bet. We'll have the C-Section discussion as we progress.

I'm feeling fine... tired, but overall, feeling good.

The dresser/changing table came last week and this week the crib should be here! I'll take pictures of the room once we get it set up.

I recovered the rocking chair too. It now matches the baby's room :)

movement

Over the last week or so, the baby has become more active and much stronger. He now moves/kicks hard enough that you can see the outside of my stomach move. This has become fun to watch not only for me, but now Adam can take part in it as well. He'll come over and put his hand on my belly and be able to feel the baby. It's pretty fun.

However, we're already starting to notice personality traits. The baby will move a ton when I'm just sitting or laying on the couch, the moment I draw attention to it and get adam over to me, the baby stops.. He is stubborn just like his father!!! I'm also starting to notice patterns - he is very active around mid-morning and then at night around 8 or 9.

I am still always hungry... in fact, I just ate oatmeal (3 packages of instant oatmeal) and I am still hungry!

The Name Game

I've come to the realization that it is a very daunting task to choose a name for a child. It seems very easy- just pick a name, but there is so much more to consider.

Adam and I have been throwing around names since I first found out I was pregnant. We have a great list going, but haven't come up with that perfect name yet.

There are so many things to consider when you come up with names. How does it sound with the last name, what nick-names can you make with the name, what cruel nick-names are kids going to come up with, initials, etc.

Our last name is somewhat difficult to pair first names with. For instance, one name we liked at the beginning was Mason. Put that with Crowson, and Mason Crowson, just doesn't sound right- too sing-songy. There have been other names like that, that just don't go with our last name, because of the N, or even the C- for instance, Connor Crowson, again, too rhymy...

It's not that Adam and I can't agree on a name, there are a handful of names that we both like, but neither are convinced that it's "the name". I think we'll just go into the hospital with our list and see what he looks like. Who knows, maybe he'll surprise us and when we see him, we'll just know what to name him.

I have been having dreams lately however, that I have the baby and three weeks later he still doesn't have a name.

24 Weeks

The baby's room looks great! I can't wait to start getting stuff in there and set up! I had a really good time with my mom and aunt pat. They helped out a lot!

Things are going well, still feeling fine. I'm trying to see if I can figure out a pattern with the baby's movements- see if I can figure out his schedule yet, but I haven't nailed it down, except for his 3 am gymnastic routine.

Adam and I are still discussing names. Right now we have a huge list but can't come up with that "perfect" name yet.

We're signed up for our prepared childbirth classes at the hospital. It's every Tuesday night for 5 weeks, starting in April.

Here is a picture of me at 24 weeks and pictures from this weekend of my mom and aunt pat!

Baby's room

Grandma Carol and Megan's aunt Pat were out here this weekend to help Megan paint the baby's room. This room used to be our room and we've since moved our living room into the normal place for a living room and reclaimed the master bedroom as our own.

Here are some photos... and some video.
